There’s nothing like the good old “One-Day Wonder”, is there? One day, two courses, such clever names. Get the dole bludgers on the phones and hopefully get them a job and you a result. It lasts a week at best. No change. It’s not only lazy, it’s a betrayal of your duty and their possibility.

Confusion, as the students hear on Day One, is necessary for learning. All of the ingredients are added, stirred, compressed and heated. And at first it all seems like a
When during the course of the training they are clearly confused and frustrated I check in, remind them of my prediction and reinforce that their confusion is perfect and expected. They are exactly where they should be.
This confusion is indeed perfect. It is necessary so that what is “known” can be unlearnt, unlinked and re-linked with knew learning. Everything is restructured an placed onto a new, extended, conceptual framework .
Then something clear and fresh, something new, positive and alive, something they want, something they weren’t expecting – and may not recognise for a while – miraculously emerges and crystallises.
And the magic is that often it is about a part of their lives that has little to do with the course itself.
